Boum-Boum

The
Boum-Boum typeface has been created for a friend of mine who was
designing record sleeves. He wanted w clear, legible font that would at
the same time evoke musik. I did not want to go into corny guitar pi
fonts or things that would remind more or less directly musical
notation. Rather than this, I took the elemental drumstick and the most
functional style of typeface, in the line of the Bauhaus work.

The Bagad
Bold typeface has been created aftet the work of John Baskerville, a
type designer from Birmingham. He created the typefaces that bear his
name and have been punched (carved) around 1752. This high contrast,
bold kind of typeface, is often used by American printers.

Presse

The
typewriter influenced considerably the way fonts where designed, at the
turn of the century. The contraption also changed drastically the way
people write. If today writters still appreciate the glorious results
of fountain pen, they do know the joy of the keyboard. The clean,
functionnal design of typewriter faces has inspired several faces. This
one is also the result of typewriter exposure, with the facility of
elecronic fonts, proportionnal spacing, and efficient kerning being
major improvement over the old mechanical device of he past.

Bordini

Bordini
is an attempt at reviving the early spirit of sans-serif typefaces. The
early "Grotesk" sans serif typefaces are ancestors of the modern
Helvetica and Arial. They were called that way by typographers shocked
by the absence of serifs, mandatory at the time. The main difference
between these fonts and more recent sans-serif is that they have
contrast, in other words stroke width differs along the letterforms.

Chap Clerk Plain

The Chap
Clerk font is vaguely inspired by the design used by some typewriters
in the early days, when type was not electronic, but lead and pain. It
was also inspired by the work of Bodoni, a type designer who lived in
Italy at the end of the eighteenth century. Legibility is paramount,
and this typeface has the characteristics that made the typewriter
become the main tool for writers all over the world. Besides, of
course, the fountain pen, used when it comes time to sign the printed
word in bookstores around the nation. Contrary to typewriters, Chap
Clerk is a nice proportional typeface, fully kerned.
Italics especially have been patiently crafted, and redrawn, to
distinguish them from simple oblique, slanted letterforms. Notice the
different appeareance in the "a", "f", and the calligraphish style.
Chap Clerk is a nice font to set text with, and well as to create
headers or titles.

Normographe

In
French, a normographe is the stencil used to guide the china
ink tube pen when drawing technical letters onto a blueprint. This
character has been designed closely matched to the normalised letters
used in Europe.
This typeface has also been influenced by the work of Paul Renner
(1878-1956), member of the Bauhaus movement, who created among others
the Futura. Such fonts are eagerly promoted by Jan Tschichold as the "New
Typography".
Note :
Normographe is also available separately in Windows Unicode WGL4 Multilingual character
set. The fonts included in the pack support standard CP1252 Latin-1
character set only.
